This mini painting is part of an emotional release painting ritual, where I sat in meditation before allowing a rage demon to be released onto the canvas through alcohol inks. A heavy feeling that had been sitting inside me for a long time, was able to be released through this art ritual. Then, once released this ephemeral feeling was washed and reshaped into the red and black background that you see.
No paint brush was used, only inks and hot air. Allowing the flow of the ink to take control of this emotional release.
The heavy texture medium on top develops natural cracks as it dries, allowing the painting to take a life of its own; it speaks back to you. The cracks are then hand filled with liquid gold leaf as a reminder that every time we break we can transform to become whole again.
